Harmony

Today is the day the Lord has made rejoice and be glad in it. John Seeley loved the book of psalms, perhaps the most real portion of scripture we have had passed down to us.

Whether religious or not, believing in God still being an option in my worldview, it is hard not to see the hand of something greater than we in the creation we have inherited.  The other morning while doing the mandatory workout I was witness to a sight that made me realize once again that I am not the center of the universe, nor are any of my friends, acquaintances or the Pope.  Katy while running along the beach with our dog Buoy by her side ran parallel to a pod of dolphins.  The early morning sun sparkled on the pacific Pacific Ocean and sea creature, land creature and a human were in sync and it made me smile.  The measured swimming of the dolphins enabled woman and dog to outdistance them relatively quickly but for a few minutes all was perfectly in balance.

Harmony in the created order existed in the beginning of time, and no I am not a Pollyanna who believes that there is not conflict among species, but balance enabled generations upon generations to survive and flourish.  No one cast of characters dominated the other until perhaps man began to invent things that enabled him to conquer nature; and thus begin to feel supreme.  Maybe it was the domestication of animals, or the invention of gunpowder, or something else, but whatever the catalyst something has fostered our becoming distance and separate from the dolphins at the beach; for example.

Walk in love with the gifts of creation and we should do no harm. By the way, those beautiful creatures that swim in Santa Monica Bay are all contaminated with chemicals and if they wash up on the beach they must be disposed of in a toxic waste site.
