WHO IS TALKING ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT
FEBRUARY 18, 2006

Candidates on the campaign trail only rarely.
Sitting congress persons or senators only rarely.
Clergy in pulpits on Saturday or Sunday mornings only rarely.
Celebrities accepting a Grammy, Oscar or an Emmy only rarely.
Environmentalists in the newspapers or mainstream magazines only rarely.

So who is talking about the environment on a regular basis? Scientists all over the planet warning humanity about the consequences of a warmer planet. It is called climate change and everyone's talking about it in the scientific community.

However, college students are strangely silent as well, so the environmental talkers are hard to find today. When Professor Joel Kovel was on the show Alexandra and I thought he might talk about the voices of environmental concern at his progressive liberal arts college in New York. Bard College is well known for allowing students their creative expression of opinions on a variety of subjects. However, Dr. Kovel did not provide a great deal of encouragement as to the students talking about the environment.

Who is talking? Well, hundreds of websites dedicated to promoting an environmental agenda have proliferated and from our website www.earthtalktoday.tv you can access many. The voices of our guests, the voices of many individuals working throughout the world to make it a better place are beginning to form a chorus of concern.

How about your voice? Is it used where you live to fight for the preservation of the local wetlands threatened by development, the loss of farmland, the contamination of your favorite fishing stream, or your Childs playground that is fertilized with toxic chemicals?

Every voice counts especially where there is a targeted focus. Find your focus and you may find your voice.
